Review of Australias national Paid Parental Leave scheme

The Government has announced a review of Australia's national Paid Parental Leave scheme introduced on 1 January 2011. The scheme provides eligible working parents with government-funded pay when they take time off from work to care for a newborn or recently adopted child. There are currently two payments under the scheme; Parental Leave Pay which has been providing up to 18 weeks pay at the rate of the national minimum wage to eligible primary carers (usually mothers) since 1 January 2011 and Dad and Partner Pay which provides up to two weeks pay at the rate of the national minimum wage to eligible dads or partners caring for a child born or adopted from 1 January 2013. Since the scheme started in January 2011, more than 250,000 working parents have claimed Parental Leave Pay.

NSW Government has lost the plot! Fathers no longer on birth certs.

A CONTROVERSIAL new bill that will remove the word "father" from birth certificates to recognise lesbian couples who have children through IVF will be put before NSW Parliament. Fifty laws across NSW covering the Local Government Act, Industrial Relations Act and the constitution will be amended to include new parental presumption protection for female same-sex couples. Lesbian parents will see expressions such as "birth mother", replace "mother" and "both parents" to replace "the father and the mother" on birth certificates. The bill equates the position of a lesbian partner of a woman who has a child after becoming pregnant by a fertilisation procedure, other than sexual intercourse, with the position of a married woman's husband. Lesbian parents will see expressions such as "birth mother", replace "mother" and "both parents" to replace "the father and the mother" on birth certificates.

Yesterday Edward Dabrowski launched his 3-point plan for healing and justice rights for families and called on both the Government and the Opposition to hear the call of Aussie battler Mums, Dads, Grandparents, and Children & Families. The NSW Minister for Community Services, the Hon Linda Burney MP, has asked the NSW Parliaments Standing Committee on Law and Justice to conduct an inquiry into whether NSW adoption laws should be amended to allow same sex couples to adopt. It is now becoming clear there is a view amongst some elitist politicians that fathers are not required within the family construct. While NSW is the worst performing economy the Government focuses on further eroding family values.

NSW Government caught lying to shore up women DV figures

The NSW Government has confirmed making substantial errors in its current Discussion paper on NSW Domestic and Family Violence Strategy. In errata published on the Office for Women's Policy web page, the
Government admits errors that clearly over-inflate the female victimisation rate from partner assault by at least 65 per cent while downplaying the prevalence of violence against men by their former partners. Blatant lies such as 63 per cent of child killers are fathers (actually, less than a quarter are fathers, and over half are mothers) were caught out by Greg Andresen, spokesman for Men's Health Australia (MHA).

Federal Labor Announces National Men's Health Policy

Shadow Minister for Health Nicola Roxon today announced that a Rudd Labor Government would develop a National Men's Health Policy. Australia's first - and to date, only - National Women's Health Policy was launched under a previous Labor Government in 1989, but a National Men's Health Policy is needed to deal with issues affecting men's health.

Federal Labor acknowledges that too little attention has been given to men's health needs. Some health issues - like prostate cancer - affect only men while other health issues - such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and injuries - affect more men than women.

First ever National Men's health policy !!

The Rudd Government will develop Australia's first ever National Men's Health Policy - in recognition of the fact that men often have poorer health than women, are likely to die earlier, and are at greater risk of suicide. To mark the start of International Men's Health Week, Minister for Health Nicola Roxon is launching the paper Setting the scene: developing a men's health policy for Australia. Men's health deserves attention. Over the next twelve months, the Government will develop a comprehensive men's health policy. We want to know what men consider to be the priorities for their health, and we want to look at how we can build up the evidence base in this area, including opportunities for research over the long term.

GLRL and Homosexual activists pressure MPs and MLCs

The Honourable Greg Donnelly, Government Whip, NSW Legislative Council has released a scathing media attack on the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby (GLRL) and a number of homosexual activists who are ramping up pressure on New South Wales MPs and MLCs to remove the right of adopted children to have a mother and a father. The fundamental principle at stake is does a child in this state, indeed anywhere, have the right to expect to be raised by a mother and a father? Greg said he believes that the unequivocal answer can only be yes.
