The Fatherhood Foundation is convening a meeting of key stakeholders of fatherhood and men's groups, health professionals and indigenous leaders to discuss a national men's health policy. The Fatherhood Foundation has long been an advocate for a National Men's Health Policy.
In 2003 the Fatherhood Foundation released 'The 12pt Plan' in Federal Parliament which is contained in the 'Fathers and Families' document.
The purpose of The 12pt Plan is to strengthen family relationships and turn the tide of fatherlessness in Australia. Points 11 and 12 of The 12pt Plan relate to the need for a National Men's Health Policy to address the needs of Australian Men.
The need for a National Men's Health Policy was again raised by Professor John Macdonald at the Father's Family Friendly Policy Forum, held at Parliament House, Canberra 20th June 2007. This forum gave presentations to the major parties on the needs of men and fathers in the context of supporting Australian families.
