Senator the Hon Chris Ellison
Minister for Human Services
Friday 18 May, 2007

The Minister for Human Services Senator Chris Ellison said
Closer engagement between the Child Support Agency and the business community aims to help reduce the impact on employees and workplaces of relationship breakdowns.
Senator Ellison attended an event in Perth today along with 60 representatives from the West Australian business sector to discuss how the Child Support Agency can help employers understand
and manage the needs of the separated parents in their workforce.

Today's event in Perth was the first of several to be held around Australia to build a new level of engagement between employers and the Child Support Agency.
Senator Ellison said
Every workplace in Australia was impacted by relationship breakdowns which could affect the well-being of individual employees and workplace productivity. The Child Support Agency can help employers reduce the impact on their employees and the workplace through initiatives such as the award-winning Staying Connected program and CSA Online.

The Child Support Agency's relationship with employers is important because employers play a critical role in helping the Agency ensure children receive the financial support they need through
child support payments.

Events such as the one today help us to better understand how the Child Support Agency and employers can work together more closely, Employers are continually taking up products and services offered by the Child Support Agency.
About 2300 employers are registered with CSAOnline which is a secure online service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

"Staying Connected' is a half-day workplace program to help men deal with separation.
