Family Law Web Guide help

Logging-in

You need to log in to Family Law Web Guide in order to get full access to our features, to interact with other members, to manage your profile, and to be able to manage (and get points for) the content you submit.

Why Join
There are many members who have had difficulty and dealt with complex issues navigating the family law and child support pathways. Separating is not an easy task and often a friendly post or a chat in the forums can assist.

When you join the Family Law WEB Guide you will have your own user name and identity within the site. This means that your posts and replies will be directed to you personally. You can select your own user name, and it does not have to be related to your real name, in fact we encourage you to use a pseudonym . In order to prevent spamming and internet 'bots' from abusing the site we ask for a valid email address. Unsolicited email will not be sent to this email address, it is used for vailidation purposes only. You can read our Privacy policy
here

Also, many of the menu's, options, features and content of this WEB site vary depending upon your membership to the Family Law WEB Guide, and your membership to the various communities and groups within this site. Some options will only become visible when you have certain rights accorded to you by being a member of a particular community or group.

What does it cost
Membership to the Family Law WEB Guide is free. However, there are some areas that require a premium membership.

How do I join
You can join the Family Law WEB Guide by logging in and creating an account here log in. The screens will guide you through the validation process.

Points

Every logged-in member can gain points as they contribute to our community, in ways like…
  • Posting on the forums
  • Contributing content to Family Law Web Guide, such as images of the day
As you gain points, you can spend them on various fun or useful things, such as buying your own e-mail account.

The points system extends further than this though, as members have the ability to give each-other points via gift-points. Gift-points are given out to all our members at a rate of 1 per day for every day they are a member but are useless until they are given to people who you feel have done you or the community a good service. It's like a quota of "thank you"s that you can give out. For example, somebody might release some works to the community and then members might give them a whole load of points for it, giving them credit for their work.
To give points to a member you visit the points tab of their profile. The point gift will then show on that tab and will also count towards their point total (which they can use to buy things with).
Occasionally upon giving a gift, you will be awarded points yourself, as a random award for your consideration.
Members of staff have the ability to give any number of points they like to people, including huge numbers, or even negative numbers. Please the staff and you could be awarded massively in points; abuse our systems and you could be penalised.

Please have fun with the system and use your gift-points well.

The Point Store

The Point Store contains all the items you can buy using your points. You can then select some and buy them.

The items that are purchasable may include:
  • Flagrant text messages. These are messages displayed in a prominent position on the website. All flagrant messages are placed in a queue and activated manually (and thus subject to moderation).
  • Banner advertisements, and upgrades. Through this you may advertise something of your own that ordinarily the staff would not allocate advertising space for.
  • E-mail addresses. You may be able to purchase forwarding and POP3 e-mail addresses

Products that require manual set-up will usually only be charged for upon activation, not at point of sale.

News/Blogs

The add news page allows you to add your news to Family Law Web Guide. For most members, this will put the news into a validation queue and inform the staff of the submission.

Galleries

The add image/add video pages allow you to add your media to Family Law Web Guide. For most members, this will put the images into a validation queue and inform the staff of the submission.

Other things to do

Other features we have include:
  • a calendar
  • chat rooms
  • downloads
  • forums
  • private topics (for private messaging)
  • quizzes
You may see submission links on the menus, and in other places. Submitting any kind of entry will be a similar process to submitting news: your entry will likely be put in a validation queue.

Wiki+

Wiki+ is a system that allows users to post content into a database of posts. This system is similar to that of a forum, however rather than having a structure of forums and user created topics, it has a staff-managed hierarchical structure of pages.

The system can be used for all kinds of things, such as posting reference material indexed hierarchically by category, organising ideas indexed by topic, or discussing TV programmes indexed by episode name.

The staff will make clear how the Wiki+ system is employed on this website.

Comcode

You can use Comcode to spice up your posts.

Below is a stack trace revealing the state the software was in when the error occurred. If this represents a bug in the unmodified software, you may want to check ocPortal website for a fix, and if there isn't one, report this as a bug. Please note that merely posting a stack trace is not sufficient for us to solve your problem; the stack trace is just an aid that presents us with additional information. We still need to know the error message, what you tried to do, how you tried to do it, version numbers, and any other appropriate information.
We apologise for this problem and if it's a bug we hope you will work with us so that we can fix it for you promptly.
