Fathers provide balance

Statistics out of a brochure composed by Dr Warren Farrell, here it clearly shows the importance of fathers involvements.

Fathers Provide Balance - Children From Fatherless Homes Are:

  • 4.6 times more likely to commit suicide
  • 6.6 times more likely to become teenage mothers(if they are girls
  • 24.3 times more likely to run away
  • 15.3 times more likely to have behavioral disorders
  • 6.3 times more likely to be in a state-operated institution
  • 10.8 times more likely to commit rape
  • 15.3 time more likely to end up in prison while a teenager
  • 85%  of all youth sitting in prison grew up in fatherless home[fulton county georgia jail population]
I pulled this info out of a brochure composed by Dr Warren Farrell, here it clearly shows the importance of the fathers involvements.

I have seen these sorts of stats mentioned from time to time.

I never get to see the source data or the reference material that supporst these figures. Where did they come from in the first place? Who did this research ? It also needs to be understood that these figures are overseas figures from the reference to Farrell.

Are there any Australian statistics or research around these sorts of data elements?

There is a member of the Fathers4Equality group who specialises in stats and figures from overseas. This topic is more appropriate for the USA forums.

The stats put together by Dr Farrell are gathered from all over the world, i would suppose that a considerable amount would come from the USA,
The meaning of 'overseas' in this day and age is becoming of less relevance.

From what you are saying it sounds like australia is a totaly different planet?

Dr Farrells reaserch delv's much deeper than just stats, the point i am making is that the fathers involvement (in planet aus) with his children until lately has been percieved to be of no value,

this definately is no agenda for USA only, it should be understood and accepted in all facets and areas of the globe, especially strong argument for shared parenting!

i have recieved an email from dr farrell, it states; feel free to use what i write in 'father and child re-union' to support your case,

i hope to apply some of his logic - much appreciated.
