Duty list hearing

I am assisting someone who has a hearing on the duty list next month.Orders and extensive affidavits by both parties.
The Judge will not want to know the full history  but some interim and procedural orders are being sought and I am not confident in the SRL being able to explain herself succinctly.
I am testing my memory but I seem to recall being able to provide a summary note to reference the interim orders sought. If I am the right track can someone advise how to present this summary. As I recall it is done before the hearing before the court sits.
Any takers?

Is it an actual interim hearing listing? Has an 11f been done?

Just the first hearing on the duty list.

My experiences with others and my own case  is that you will get about 10 minutes in front of the Judge on the first mention and they will have a list of about 30 other people to see as well. Its also been my experience that, unless negotiated outside nothing will happen on that date except procedural stuff such as an 11f or ICL appointment. Of course this all depends on the current situation but, if i was you i would not be expecting the Judge to even look at the first page of an application, let alone a summary to make orders on the first appearance.

Of course, i hope im wrong for the SRL's sake :-)

Yes they do like them short and sweet but sometimes you get someone up for over an hour and, as you say, 30 people are waiting, some poor people even getting sent home without an appearance.
I will try to sneak it in when she announces appearance. They normally dish out some orders after a 5 minute appearance, albeit brief ones.

On a side note, they both filed initiating applications, she on the 3rd and he on the 5th(both not knowing they were filing)
However he got a second listing on a different date. I would have thought the registry would have rolled them together. I haven't come across this before. Is this something that happens often.

Ive never seen it… Are their interim orders sought miles apart?

Not really. Child times are similar for the interim.
Finals are different. He wants equal time for 2 and 5yo, but Ms Macintosh stands in his way here.

I can only think that the registry didn't pick it up by the names and treated them as separate applications.
One was done in person and the other online 2 days later by a $olicitor so maybe that has something to do with it.
I will see on the hearing day if they get rolled together or not. I assume they will.

Quick update for anyone interested.

The 2 separate cases were an error by the registry. It just wasn't picked up. No one had ever seen it before. They were simply consolidated in the end.

As for the written submission, we had a couple of options for this.
I went with the SRL seeking leave to hand it up as her submission. One copy for the judge and a copy for the other party.
This way the submission went to the other party at the last minute so they didn't have the opportunity to prepare.
It was taken as her submission and she was asked further questions about the matter for a very short time.
