Author Karla Lee - Some sensible books for Kids

Divorce is difficult enough for adults, but it's even harder for their children, according to Sydney author Karla Lee.

Divorce is difficult enough for adults, but it's even harder for their children, according to Sydney author Karla Lee.

Karla Lee, who launched her 2 books 'Please Don't Go!' & 'Is It My Fault?' in March 2003 at Sydney Parliament House, has devoted her life to helping children of divorced parents, have "A Voice", she said. Karla was 9 at the time of her parents divorce.

Karla said more resources are needed to help children cope with the pain of separation and divorce. Parents also need more information to understand how to help their kids.

Barbara Holborow, former magistrate of the NSW Children's Court, said Karla Lee's books provide the sort of help needed by many children and parents, during a separation or divorce. "The illustrations will help children absorb the important messages Karla is sending," she said.

Barbara Holborow endorsed both of Karla Lee's books and also opened her book launch in 2003.

Karla Lee has appeared on, A Current Affair, Morning with Kerri-Anne, The Catch-Up, The Today Show, Radio Station 2GB, 2UE, ABC. 2BL & Alice Springs, Newspapers and spoken in many Seminars.

"I searched the bookstores and libraries, looking for a book on divorce from the child's perspective, but found nothing," Karla said. "That is why I decided to write these books."

Karla's parents divorced when she was nine years old.  "My life changed immediately, as it does for every child in this situation," she said. "It is so hard for a young child to understand what is happening.

'Please Don't Go!' is written for older children and parents, and 'Is It My fault?' is an illustrated book of stories for younger children. Karla also designed Counselling Dolls for children.

Karla Lee wants people to hear "The Child's Voice" when it comes to family breakdown, and for the Government to stand up and recognize we need to do something about helping these Children and Families now. These kids are the next Generation, we must not forget that.

This Family Survival Kit" as I call it is to help families who struggle with talking to their CHILDREN after their separate or Divorce.

My goal is to reach every Family who goes through the Divorce Courts and to see these books within every Family Court.

If the Australian Government is going to show that they are concerned about the 'Australian Family' and the next generation it would also be good to back that up with 'Helpful Reading Material'  that is not a brochure or document but material that comes from a real life situation and with a positive outcome.

Over the years people who have read Karla's books have told her that after reading the books they only wish they had them back when the divorce took place as it would have helped them understand better what their kids were going through, and what they needed to do "Which was to COMMUNICATE to their children now" not later down the tract.

Wouldn't it be good if "The Australian Government" could say we may not have all the answers but we will do what ever we can to help Families of Divorce, and it starts with this "Family Survival Kit".

Karla Lee On-Line: There are on-line resources I have at www.karlalee.com to help children and parents deal with the problems they will face as their children go through a divorce or separation.

I believe that every Family Court, School, Counselling Centre, Hospital, Book Store and Relationship Centre should have these books available to those who need it.

If the Government wants us to believe they really care about 'The Children', well actions speak louder than words.

I think we can all do something to better these young broken lives, and to give broken Children a Hope for their future.

Karla is very passionate about "the best interests of children and families of Australia".

Hopefully after reading the books you also will see where Karla's heart is for the Children of Australia and internationally.

Karla Lee now 34, is happily married to her Husband Jay and has two little girls "Faith (2.5yrs) & Hope (4 months)" her Princesses.

Hey OneRingRules.

I was interested in the concept and wondered what may be on the site to check out although Broken did tend to cause me irritation.

It was interesting, but avoid the forum there on her site as it seems to be nothing but porn spam 'members'; perhaps not the best type of advertising for her site one thinks.  O_o

Thank you very much for bothering to check out Karla's site more thoroughly. Yes the site is completely open to spammers and hackers and other Web Bots that destroy forums. It has been an on going issue and we are very lucky our Site developers here have been extremely fastidious in relation to site security here.

Unfortunately Karla's forums are completely unusable. I have written to Karla offering her any of the site facilities and assistance. We have full e-commerce under development so she could use it to sell her books. Thanks again for your attention to detail in relation to the topic.
