Name on birthcertificate and name on medicare card different.

Add Topic
Don't know whether the childs birth certificate was changed at 6months(without fathers permission or knowledge) as this was the date of registration of birth the child would have been 6 months. The medicare card was in the name I remembered. Applied through Medicare to have the child added to my card. Medicare have seen the birth certificate I showed them as proof of parentage and are writing to the mother to ask why the surnames are different.

Sorry but your post isnt very clear as to what you're confused with, what was the question again?

Medicare (according to their website) wont lodge an application to have a child added to the "system" until they see the birth certificate and a form which the Midwife/Doctor signs to say that the child was born at that hospital. You would have to check with your state's Births, Deaths and Marriages but usually, the parents have 6 months to register the birth.
I have possession of the birth certificate showing mothers surname, it was independantly applied for. Applied also to medicare to have child included on my medicare card too. No child listed as per birth certificate name but named under fathers surname. Telephoned BDM to ask if Birth Cert was the only one or had it been amended. They say it was the only one but on looking hard they said it was evident that the surname had been tampered with and was in a different colour ink all together. Just a jig saw puzzle at present. Medicare photocopied the BC and will investigate.
