Have you sent the email requesting access? That is found in the Community area under SRL's. You have a lot to do between now and end of August. Is it an "Interim" or Final hearing?
It is not easy being an SRL. You need to understand what is required and you need to put many hours into getting documents ready. No one will do it for you. If you are prepared to read a lot of material, do the work and are prepared to work respectfully with the directions provided at court then you may do well. There are SRL's who get really good outcomes, are commended by Magistrates and Judges and compromise with opposing counsel. There are others who do not. You can read many interesting outcomes on the site here under "Judgements of Interest".
My advice to a budding SRL is that if you are prepared for 24 x 7 preparation, study, reading the court rules, the Family LAw Act and living and breathing the material on the site here and other resource sites and prepared to listen to what you are told at court then there is much to be gained.
It entirely depends whether or not you can put in the effort, get the paper work as close to correct as you can, and make a reasonable presentation then definitely worth having a go.
Don't forget you can also use "bundled" services. For example you want a Barrister for a day.
