Going to Trial

I am representing myself in trying to get better visits and communication with my daughter

I was hoping somebody could direct to resources to help me prepare for a trial. I have Signed Consent Orders which were organised via Legal Aid Conference.

I am representing myself as I do not have the money for a Solicitor and do not qualify for Legal Aid (Conference was based on Mothers application for Legal Aid)

I am going to back to court to:

- Compel our daughters mother to use our daughters legal name

- My daughter's mother is not complying with the orders

- Improve communication for myself and my daughter

I have never tried forums before… Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Has this case been heard on the first mention?

Has a judge set a date for a hearing?

Go to the courts and sit in on the other cases. It will give you a good idea of the process.

If you are going to a hearing, a "friend" will be really helpful.

I have had very limited experience (represented myself) and seems to have worked out.

Also, READ all around the forum groups and threads here at the FLWG.

Consider applying to join the Self-Represented Litigants - Resources (SRL-R) confidential forum area.
To start with registering with the SRL group on the site here would be a good start. There is a lot of information here that will guide you along the way and there are closed forums to assist with case preparation. If you are going back I assume there are already orders in place. If the orders are not being complied with, then contraventions are in order.
