Family Reports

Add Topic
The advice given by the guest before me was excellent advice.
I am currently in my 3rd (out of 4) year in studying to become a Social worker and we are currently doing an assignment on Family Reports.
The Family Law Act states that it is in the best interests of the child to have equal time with each parent, except in the case where this is detrimental to the child's phsyical or psychological harm.
The person conducting interviews and writing the family report will take into account the parents work responsibilities, how much time they spend with the children and what they have done with the children in the past, as well as how both parents are interested in their child's relationship with the other parent. It is important that you express interest in your child spending time with your ex-partner as this shows that your children are more important than your arguments.
If you are honest and trying to do what is in the best interests of your child, a good social worker or psychologist will see this.
Good luck!
