I have recently discovered, that CSA got information wrong from family assistance but worked out in my favour.

Hey I'm new to this and am wondering, If I am unhappy about some of the child support assessments I have received how do you complain about it and to whom?? I have recently discovered, that CSA got information wrong from family assistance but worked out in my favour……….The problem there is if family assistance got given wrong information could CSA check and find out who gave that information to them?? How do I know that this whole time I've been paying child support that the assesments have been done correct?? How can you get CSA to check their files??

Please help!!
You should have written records of C$A assessments to check.

It looks as if Family Assistance provided new care percentages to C$A. The other parent could have started this process.

In any case if it worked out in your favour and the other parent is not unhappy with the decision then just let sleeping dogs lay.

If you want to complain to C$A then write them a letter outlining your issues.
ok we currently have a case going at the moment where my partner has to give CSA proof the mother to his son has left Australia for good without him but claims she does to keep child support. If family assistance can get that wrong then can CSA check to find out who is getting the family assistance now for the child since the mother left and find out where the child is?
As they keep saying we can't do anything like that? What are CSA ment to do?

Pretty sure they would have access to FTB info and if the ex is receiving it or not We had no idea my partners ex was getting FTB for his kids, until we went through a COA process. In the decsion CSA mentioned that the ex was the recipient of FBT for the kids. If the ex is not the one collecting FTB I don't know if CSA would have access to info on who is or if they could pass that on to you, as that may breach privacy. How old is the child?
You need to talk to Family Assistance and possibly fill out an application for benefits form showing care hours etc… Although you may not be eligible, once they have made their decision they will then have on record the care percentages and if you have more than 66% care then the mother will not receive any benefits.

If she is out of the country for more that 12 weeks she is also not eligible to receive benefits.

The Family Assistance decision for care will be sent to C$A and they will have to abide by it. There is little need to deal with C$A and FAO are much better people to deal with anyway.
Fairgo if the parent doesn't know where the child is, can they fill out the form? We were told my ex cannot fill out the form and have it lodged unless he has actual care.

From the OP's post where he/she says 'find out where the child is', I assumed they don't know where the child is living?

In can confirm this. The Family Assistance Office receives information from Immigrations/Customs when people leave the country and when they return. I received a letter from FAO a couple of years ago that they have information that I have not returned from overseas after 3 months and therefore stopping FTB payments.

Turns out I did return and the information they received was incomplete (glitch in the system, apparently), however it proves that Big Brother is definitely watching and the FAO is well aware if this mother has left the country and not returned.
flipside - as per Frenzy do you know where your child is?
Fairgo- it looked like it worked out in my favour but  the money they said I was owed by the other parent ended up being arrears for me having to pay!!

Why are you still allowed to recieve benefits for 12wks after you leave Australia?

Have a last known address but the person that has the child moves around Australia alot!
