Possible consequences of the change in federal government

Will Labor continue with the proposed changes to child support etc?

Does anyone have any information on whether Labor will change the proposed child support system that is due to commence from 01 July 2008?

No Changes Mooted

I have emailed a number of labour people about the problems with the system

The response has generally been to say they will let the latest changes settle a bit so it can be assessed.

i.e. no changes planned at this stage.

Maybe I am not explaining myself well enough
I imagine Chairman 1994 JSC Roger Price considers he has some unfinished business to be done, and not just with CSA.
We had a chat to one of the scrutineers (? - people who hand out the 'how to vote' cards) for Labour and she was unaware of any proposed rollback of shared-parenting laws.

One suggestion she did make, was the old marketing addage - that a phone call is the thoughts of 10 people, wherease a letter is the thoughts of 100 people. So, even if labour does have an inkling of tinkering with the pro shared-parenting laws, lots of letters to local members may gaurd against this. The last thing you want when you've been voted into power, is to face the prospect of being voted out of power.

I believe Rudd thinks of himself as being a neo-Tony Blair figure and would like to be there for the long haul. Lots of letters on an issue can magically make the issue vanish. Especially when there are larger points to be won on climate and broadband and other issues.

We do not expect to see any key changes made anywhere without significant factual information supporting a well put together submission.

After all the legsilative program is still rolling out and will not be in place until after June 30 2008.

The SPCA and other key groups have some material almost ready for submission.  :P
