NSW Legislative Council Standing Committee on Law and Justice 28 November 2006 Final Report released

Topic covering details in relation to this report released on December 1 2006

I would suggest this report requires a careful review as it has significant implications for NSW. In particular additional provisions likley such as lawer assisted mediation in the FRC (Family relationship Centres.

The Committee recommends that the NSW Attorney General's Department work with the Chief Magistrate to develop and implement a Practice Note to provide guidance to NSW magistrates on the application of Division 11 of Part VII of the Family Law Act. The information contained in the Practice Note should also form the basis of training provided to NSW Police prosecutors. This relates to domestic violence orders.

There are many recommendations that need to be considered and reported on in more detail so that the Council can further decide on what actions should be taken.  :o
